Tom & Lori Ziegler, eds.
2008, 150 pages

More of the family devotionals that Christian Parenting Today says “are the perfect tool for struggling families. Tom and Lori Ziegler have done it again--they have produced a kid-tested, family friendly book of 50 devotionals, this time for preteens and young teens (though most can be adapted to younger children too).

Each devotional features
An objective to clarify the goal
An activity to pique the kids' interest
An application to piece it all together
Ideas for putting the lesson into practice

THE FIVE SENSES OF ROMANTIC LOVE
God's Plan For Exciting Sexual Intimacy In Marriage

Sam Laing
2008, 168 pages

HOLY AND HOT!
Married sex should be both.

It is a sad truth that many married Christian couples are sexually unfulfilled. The joy, pleasure and sheer delight God designed for married men and women is for many “the great unclaimed gift.”

Sharing insights from Song of Songs, author Sam Laing says that married sexual love should be the most fulfilling because it is God’s plan, “and God flat-out knows how to do things right!” Showing how the married lovers in the “Song” celebrate their sexual relationship by involving all five senses, Sam helps us to throw off inhibitions to wholeheartedly embrace God’s plan…and our spouses as well.

God wants married couples to experience the exciting, adventurous and free sexual life that he, through the Holy Spirit, describes for us in the Song.

Sam invites you to get ready for the ride of your life as you claim the joyous union of sexual love that your Creator intends for you to have—a union he wants you to enjoy all of your married life.

The Song—your song—is waiting to be sung!

GOD'S PITCHER AND OTHER SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS
Wisdom For Life Series
Gloria Baird
2008, 200 pages

This is the first book in DPI's “Wisdom for Life” series of women’s devotional books with short,
insightful readings. Gloria Baird shares nuggets of wisdom with which she has nurtured, counseled and encouraged women throughout the years

In the forward to the book, Tammy Fleming describes Gloria as a “maven.” Malcolm Gladwell, in his book The Tipping Point, tells us that “maven” is the Yiddish word for “one who accumulates knowledge.” Tammy says that Gloria is a maven of matrimony, of motherhood, and of the marvelous message of our God. Another aspect of a maven is that she passes on the knowledge she has gained. In this book, Gloria does just that.

Her heart’s desire is to pass on these things to her children and grandchildren…and to all of us as well! God’s Pitcher is “the older women teaching the younger women” in action in a beautiful and inspiring way.

You will feel like you are sitting down across the table from Gloria in your kitchen, sipping a cup of tea and listening to her share her life with warmth, candor and faith.

ONE PICTURE'S WORTH
Memorizing God's Words

John & Kim Scott
2008, Spiral-bound

As a parent you want to impart to your children the truth and meaning of God's word. You want them to learn scriptures that they will hide in their hearts (as the Psalmist says) so they will grow in their understanding of God's will and his love.

John and Kim Scott are both busy medical doctors, yet they fight to spend quality time with their three children. To help their children memorize scriptures, they came up with a plan that involved a flash card approach. They have been astounded at how effective this approach has been, so they decided to share it with others.

John Scott says in the preface to the book, "This collection of thirty scriptures represents an idea that lay essentialy dormant for three years, even as we continued to be amazed by our children's recall of Bible verses from a few homemade picture flash cards. In sharing this concept with friends, we found the primary obstacle to expansion was obtaining appropriate pictures which captured the heart and substance of God's word. We especially wanted photos that would communicate to children in other families and that could be used in good conscience in regard to copyright laws. The result of this pursuit is in your hands."

In Proverbs 22:20-21 Solomon says, "Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge, teaching you true and reliable words, so that you can give sound answers to him who sent you?"

Now the Scotts offer "thirty sayings" for you to share with your children to give them "counsel and knowledge" and "true and reliable words."
